Some Friday’s I am barely moving by the time dinner rolls around. On weeks like these I like to have a big platter of prepared food (not by me) to graze on with a big glass of red wine and a movie. The Italian Mezze Board inspiration came from my time in Italy when I often made a meal of appetizers. The Italians like a lot of meat….I like a lot of Veg so I compromise and have lots of wine, bread and Veg. A little hole in the wall bar in Rome I found served this crusty Focaccia smeared with soft sun dried tomatoes, corn, a wafter thin slice of Parmesan and drizzled with the most amazing tasting olive oil I have ever had. I sipped a very special large glass of Borolo and left very satisfied. Here are some ideas for your version of the Italian Mezze Board for this week:
- Marinated Olives of all kinds
- Thin shavings of good quality Parmesan
- Soft Sun Dried Tomatoes
- Sweet Corn
- Olive Oil
- Roasted Garlic
- Grilled Vegetables
Heat up some Marinara, top it with fresh Mozzarella, and Basil- dip everything in it
- Crusty Italian Focaccia
- Oven Roasted Broccoli Spears
- Red Peppers
- Leftover Turkey Burgers
